Do You Believe? The Truth of God's Existence

How do we know that God exists? This question has echoed through the ages, stirring hearts and minds. For those who seek truth, the Bible offers a clear path to understanding God’s existence, His nature, and His will. At God’s Truth Awaits, we believe the answers lie in approaching God with childlike faith and trusting His Holy, Living, Breathing Word.

Childlike Faith: The Heart of Belief

The Bible calls us to have faith like a child. In Matthew 18:3, Jesus says, “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.” Children believe with simplicity and trust, unburdened by the skepticism of adulthood. Perhaps this is exactly what God desires from us—a heart that trusts Him fully, without overcomplicating His truth.

We stand at a crossroads: we either believe in God or we do not. There is no middle ground. If we choose to believe, where do we turn to know Him?

Can We Trust the Bible?

Some may question the Bible’s reliability, noting it was written by human hands. Could it be flawed? Could it be inaccurate? These are valid concerns, but let’s consider the nature of God. The Bible describes God as all-powerful, all-loving, and all-knowing—the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End (Revelation 22:13). If God is unstoppable, could mere humans prevent His Holy Word from being preserved as He intended? Impossible!

The Bible itself declares its divine origin. In 2 Timothy 3:16, we read, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.” If the Holy Spirit inspired the writers of Scripture, then we can trust that God’s will ensured its accuracy. Man’s limitations cannot thwart God’s purpose. The Bible is not a product of human understanding alone but a divine revelation, crafted by God’s hand through human vessels.

The Living Word of God

In John 1:1, the Bible proclaims, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” God’s Word is not a relic of the past; it is alive and active today (Hebrews 4:12). It does not cease to exist or lose its power. To know God, we must turn to His Word, which reveals His character, His promises, and His plan for humanity.

Relying on our own understanding is futile, for as finite beings, we know nothing of God except what He reveals. As Proverbs 3:5 instructs, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” Through the Bible, we encounter the God who created all things, who loves us unconditionally, and who holds all knowledge.

Learning About God: Prayer and His Word

How do we grow in knowledge of God? Through prayer and by immersing ourselves in His Holy Word. God requires us to seek Him diligently, and His Word is the lamp that lights our path (Psalm 119:105). By reading Scripture with childlike faith, we open our hearts to the truth God has preserved for us.

Why not embrace the simplicity of belief, as a child would, and trust that God’s Word is exactly as He intended? It is through the Bible that we learn of God’s love, His power, and His eternal promises, including His covenant with His chosen people, Israel.
